Whether you are an expert hiker or just starting out, searching for the right clothes for hiking can feel like a challenge. There are a lot of options out there, but they are not all created equal. Being prepared for your hike can be the difference between an experience you’d like to forget and one you always remember.

Mountain Material

Quality and comfort are key when it comes to hiking. You definitely don’t want to be out hiking in flip-flops and your favorite jeans. Finding the right material for hiking is essential for both safety and comfort. You never know what you will encounter on a hike, but you always want to be prepared. 

Fabric

While hiking, you want lightweight clothing that allows for the maximum range of motion. A fabric that is not itchy and helps wick away moisture is ideal for keeping you comfortable.  You want to try and stay away from clothing that will cause chafing or isn’t designed to stand up to all of the elements. 


Fit


Clothing that fits well when on a hike can be a lifesaver. You want clothes that fit your body well and allow for stretch and movement. Loose or baggy clothing can get caught on rough rocks or low-hanging branches. Making sure your clothes fit well is a key to safety while hiking. 

Breathability
